Quinys Forgedawn

Rich wine made Quinys think of only one thing, and it seemed that Erys could probably use that one thing as well, so she spent her time asking and looking and eventually finding the best place to get that one thing. After watching Onys leave Erys's room Quin quietly knocked on the door, hoping that her friend wasn't crying behind it because that's the worst. "Erys? Are you busy?"

Erys Moongem

Finally changed out of her armor and back into her comfortable, casual dress. She'd managed to mostly stop crying, but the knock on her door still felt fortuitous. Dagger's voice coming through only made her look to the sky. Really? Really. Really. She moved to the door and opened it. "Not at all, Dagger. Wanna come in?"

Quinys Forgedawn

"Nope, we're leaving." Quin grabbed at Erys's hand and pulled her from the room, heading downstairs and keeping hold of Erys as she went. She weaved through streets and stopped outside a small cottage with no real sign outside of it. She smiled widely at Erys as she reached for the door. "Wait right here, I'll be right back." She disappeared inside quickly.

Erys Moongem

Not that much a stranger to being grabbed suddenly and whisked away, Erys manages to keep up, but this strikes her as uncharacteristic for Dagger. The sunlight and the bustling streets reminded her of her earlier whirling confusion, but when they'd finally arrived at the cottage Erys was openly confused. Was… Dagger going to propose? That was going to be problematic in the extreme. Surely she hadn't had that much of an impact on the darling elf. 'I'm good, I guess, but I'm not that good,' she thought. So she waited, patiently, more or less, alone in the street in her fancy clothes. After the first few moments, though, she found herself moving to the side of the road, waiting for Dagger but shying away from being the center of the passing strangers' attention. She just needed some space, she was sure. Some time. Something.

Quin popped back out with a tied up package and nodded to Erys. "Did you need anything while we're out, or are you ready to head back?" Quin smiled impishly, holding the box tightly and looking excited.

Erys Moongem

A… package? Erys couldn't help but rememer Dagger picking up the crossbow. "N-no, at least, I don't think so. It might be nice to divvy up the group's gold, get the coins exchaanged… take my cut… maybe get some clothes? But I'm pretty sure I overheard that Rowan wants…a… hat?" She could barely remember anything they'd said in the carriage.

Quinys Forgedawn

"Oh, we can do that if you'd like, this can wait. Or if you're super curious we can go back now." Quin gently rocked the box smiling a bit bigger and suddenly wondering if Erys just wasn't in the mood. She hadn't thought that maybe Erys wouldn't like this, who wouldn't like this, normal people probably…

Erys Moongem

Erys couldn 't help but return her smile, blushing a little. Heavens. This was a problematic circumstance. "…I love when you smile like that. No, I'm dying of curiosity." She held her hand out to be whisked away again. "Lead the way, Dagger darling."

Quinys Forgedawn

Quin giggled a bit, tucking the box under her arm gently and pulling Erys back to the inn and finding a small table. She sat the box down and pointed at a chair before turning toward the bar. She turned back to the table and glancing between Erys and the box a few times before narrowing her eyes. After a moment she decided to trust Erys and headed for the bar. She returned shortly with two steaming of mugs and setting one down at each of their spots. She opened the box and pulled out two small cakes, frosted in white icing. Cakes and hot tea, a perfect snack for the stressed Elf in in your life.

Erys Moongem

Now it made perfect sense. She nodded, realizing that her desperate search for a flash of joy had in fact led her to make assumptions. Good, good, this was good. A reciprocal gesture. Tea Time. Tea time, featuring cakes. "I showed you mine, and now you're showing me yours. I had no idea you—-" The image of her running after the monster, table full of sweets crashing to the ground. "—-loved this sort of thing. I am so delighted to join you for our second official tea time. Yes, absolutely, let's make this a thing." She laughed, trying to banish the invasive memories and live in the moment. There was work to be done here. Lady Firehair's work. She reached for her mug and gently blew the steam away from the top, taking a sip and marveling at the taste of something new. She sampled the cake as well, giggling at a bit of frosting sticking to her upper lip and moving her tongue to fetch it. "This is lovely, Dagger."

Quinys Forgedawn

Quin looked momentarily satisfied, biting into her cake and closing her eyes for a moment. Love, that was the best way to describe her feeling for these moments. This was luxury and just pure self indulgence, and she never really had much time for them. She usually was satisfied with her baths, but sometimes you need cake too. "This may be one of my favorite things."

Erys Moongem

Erys laughed as Dagger closed her eyes, the math totally clear. She felt the blush paint her cheeks and forced her affection downwards. 'Don't let her see, she needs a real friend and Edric fucked up. You're going to be that friend. You're going to make this happen.' "One of? It's weird, we've been companions for almost a month and we've hardly had time to relax long enough to talk likes and preferences. I'm so used to covering that on like a second date." 'Not that I've had many of those.' "I love the tea. I don't know that I'd get the cake on my own, but I can tell you love it, and I love sharing it with you. We'll definitely have to incorporate cakes into our tea times. Girls like us need to put up our feet and enjoy ourselves every few days, or else we get tense."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Tense isn't the worst way to live, it makes me feel awake. This is for when I can just be lazy." Quin took a small sip of the tea and smiled over the cup, enjoying the contrast of the bitter against the sweet cake. "What do you like?" Quin did need a friend, but she also wanted to get to know Erys as Edric's lover. Quin enjoyed what she'd learned about Erys so far, but she had weird feelings and didn't know what to do with them.

Erys Moongem

Erys sighs, finally feeling her shoulders relax. This was good. This was exactly needed. Tomorrow, there was shit to do. Today, there was this. "Other readheads, mostly." She chuckled at her usual one-liner having a particular resonance in this context. "Though, uh, keep this a secret? Mine's dyed." She winks. "I very much enjoy quiet moments like these with loved ones, specifically in intimate settings – not to say that out here is any less wonderful. Moonlight. Sunlight. People who do things. I like activity, and life, and… uniqueness. Like I fell for you pretty much instantly when you saved my sister at the cavemouth — I know it wasn't as big a deal to you. That's what you do. You stab things in the face. I love it. But uh, I messed up. I should've held the line with Valorn and instead… well. You were there."

Quinys Forgedawn

Quin was unsure of how to respond, so she sipped her tea while replaying the words in her head. Life, activity, Quin understood the drive to try and capture the feeling of being purely in the moment, it was the greatest high there was. As for saving Onys, Quin just did what she always did, fighting things when others were threatened…or when she wanted something. Far more selfish than she believed anyone to know, Quinys had done many things in order to get what she wanted. "How many times have you or your sister saved me since then? I'm not inflatable, and I almost died in that same cave. It's no ones fault but the gods."

Erys Moongem

A devilish grin crossed Erys' face for an instant, because she'd finally found an inroads. "My goodness, my sister. I love her so much. She's always been there for me. She is just, so… so…" Erys trailed off, a hundred years of memories. A hundred years of taking the spotlight, of Onys excelling anyways. A hundred years of accolades hard-fought for Ona and… easy for herself. "She's a fighter, like you. Very dedicated to protecting the things and people that are important to her. Which, thankfully, includes me." Erys grabbed her mug to drink more of her tea, very careful to keep her eyes on Dagger, watching for any hint of expression whatsoever.

Quinys Forgedawn

Quin wondered what that was like, having someone to spend so much of your life with, who will be there at a moment's call, who protects you and wants to see you safe. Being honest, she had some of that with Adonis, but only when it suited Adonis and figuring out those moments was maddening. She took another bite of cake as she thought about it, the cake suddenly seeming less amazing than moments before. "Your sister is an amazing woman, she's even taken time to listen to me."

Erys Moongem

"I feel sometimes like I'm an incredible burden on her. That I slow her down, that I make her bond with Lady Goldheart weaker. I don't even wear the name of our house anymore, at least not in Elven, and honestly, as we approach our centennial in a few months… I might just ditch it." *She frowned a bit, still constantly debating the decision with herself." "She just really needs someone in her life who wants to be there for her, y'know? Like, because of her. I'm in her life because we're stuck together." 'Nothing…' "Nothing is ever going to keep us from one another. But I just can't be that person for her. At least not until I'm stronger."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Onys is incredibly strong, and so are you. I've seen you do things I'm sure I could never, and I'm not just talking about healing magic. I've seen you take hits that would knock me down with a smile, and return even harder." Quinys paused, realizing that maybe Erys is feeling tired with all of her responsibilities and needed help, but was unsure of how to ask and this was it. "But I'd love to invite her to join us, I think it would be good to all sit as women and discuss how things are going in our lives. I know that things can sometimes go bad when living with women, because we're all so strangely passionate about our own things, so we should have both Onys and Rowen join us. Also, I'd really like to learn more about them both. You and Onys because your childhood was so…fairytale like, and Rowen is just plain fascinating." Quin took another bite of cake, deciding Adonis wasn't allowed to ruin this for her. She was sitting with one of her closest friends and would enjoy the moment, because she deserved it.

Erys Moongem

"Fairytale-like?" Erys remembered Atara slamming her fist into Hadrin's face, knocking the dwarf down. The Shad Dunbar retinue preparing to defend their captain, and nobody listening to a word she said. Nobody ever listened. "I guess, y'know, what with being nobles and all. What a lovely idea, invite the girls to tea time. I'll track Rowan down and see if she'll join us at nextcamp, I've been meaning to ask her about something, would you mind inviting my sister?" Erys fought very hard to keep the mischievous smile off her face, and only barely suceeded by swallowing the rest of her cake.

Quinys Forgedawn

"Oh course!" Quin finished her tea, smiling at the idea of spending more time all together. She wondered where the other sister would spend her time, and what kind of cake they would all enjoy. "Do have any requests for next time? And was your sister headed out? Or to her room? I'm not going to bug her right away, but I'd like to know where to find her when I do go bug her."

Erys Moongem

"Gosh, I'm not sure where she went after she left my room. You might have to hunt for her a little. Goodness knows I have no clue where in the world Rowan is." 'Do druids pray? Maybe there's a park nearby.' "There was talk of shopping, too, right? Maybe we could round up the girls for that today?" 'And yell at Ivaric tonight.'

Quinys Forgedawn

"That would be a lot of fun, we should get stones of far speech." Quinys mused a bit, thinking over how much money she should bring. She didn't want to bring enough to attract attention, but didn't want to run short. "I wish I knew what those run for, oh well. I'm excited for this. Like, I think this is going to be a lot of fun."
