Quinys Forgedawn

Quinys, still in her armor and battle warn clothes, crossed the hall and headed toward Edric's room for another lesson. She stopped before the door and looked at it for a moment or two before quietly knocking.

Edric Crestrun

It had been a very long day. He'd just had to give some very bad news to arguably the most innocent of their group, and he was still reeling from the discovery they had made at Cragmaw Castle, the figurative blood still staining his hands as he recalls the head of Groll being tossed to the side after it had been used and discarded. In truth, they treated the goblins no better than they had treated Gundren and his kin, but he was too angry to care. Opening up the door, he gestured inside, only a small smile crossing his face as he saw Quinys. "'ey Dagger. Come on in, let's get started."

Quinys Forgedawn

Quin scrunched her face for a moment, then stepped in. Her rapier and dagger still hung from her hip, swinging lightly with every step. She moved them to the side as she sat on his desk, pushing his papers into a chaotic pile and letting a few slip onto the floor with a tiny smile. "Hey."

Edric Crestrun

Taking a seat at his desk, he reorganized his papers carefully before turning back to look at her, the rapier on her side still giving him a number of questions he'd love to ask, but seemed…inadvisable. He could ask her about why she was still carrying it, certainly, but right now they didn't need any more pain in their lives. "You were great out there today. Besides the stabbin', you did a good job using your magic to your advantage. Was that a blade ward I saw you use with the bandits?"

Quinys Forgedawn

"Yep, I used sleep in the castle, but it didn't last very long." Quin shrugged, thinking about her lack of useful magic in the last few fights. She pulled her hair down from the braid and let it fall over her shoulders with a sigh, relaxing a bit with the new found lack of tightness. "Also, Catbird talks. Wish I had known that before."

Edric Crestrun

Grinning a bit, he whistled, as Catbird flew up to the window and tapped on it a couple times to get Quin's attention, having been out having fun on the town with all the various farm cats. "Catbird talks when he has to, or when he wants to. Turns out he doesn't like talkin' much. Don't take it personally, he didn't say a word to me until I got annoyed with 'em and shut off my telepathy. Wouldn't shut up then. You ready to get started?"

Quinys Forgedawn

"Yeah, what first?" Quin stood and cracked her knuckles, looking over some of his books. "What can I do to surprise you today? Maybe turn you into a flower?" She wiggled her fingers and smiled a bit wider as she scanned titles, looking for more good books to steal from him so she had something to do while half their group slept. Oh, marine life, that one was going to find its way into her room tonight.

Edric Crestrun

"Real simple one this time. You've seen me use it often, it's called Shield. Now you're gonna use it." Part of the lesson plan, and part because he wanted her to focus from this point on, the familiar hum of a magic missile spell filled the room as his hand shone with blue arcane energy. "Catch." Giving her just enough time to react and turn his way, three deadly bolts of energy which had just today blown away a massive bugbear shot towards her in arcing paths, ready to knock her off her feet if they struck her.

Quinys Forgedawn

"Son of a" Quin tried to dodge, but knew they would follow, and felt the air stop for a moment as the mistakes were scattered by an invisible wall protecting her. "Not cool." She pouted, happy that she had deflected, but somewhat upset that there was a chance he could have killed her. "Do you really want me dead that badly?"

Edric Crestrun

He grinned again. "If I thought they were gonna hit ya, they wouldn't have. I knew you'd figure it out if you thought they were, though." He stood up, as he looked over the shield she had made, tossing a firebolt at it next as it harmlessly exploded into heat against it. "Good, yer compensating for the force and the heat. Would've burned you otherwise." His hand moved almost imperceptibly, and suddenly he was gone, a light mist of arcane energy in his wake as he appeared behind her, examining the spell from another angle. "You're learnin' fast, for someone who's not trained. Think yer up to learn something a little bit stronger?"

Quinys Forgedawn

She jumped and twirled, scowling at him and crossing her arms. She didn't like that. She didn't like not knowing where he was, or him popping up behind her. Something about it made her feel weird." Stronger? Well, I'm probably stronger than you, so why not? What are you trying to teach?"

Edric Crestrun

"Just this." Another gesture, and he vanished, leaving nothing behind this time, but she could hear his footsteps as he circled around her. "Should come in handy, for someone who's so sneaky."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Would be more handy if you weren't so noisy." She looked around to where he was heading, sticking out her foot in an attempt to trip his invisible self. "Are you sure you want to teach me invisibility, some could call that irresponsible….like all sane people ever." She sighed, trying to do as he did, but not really knowing what it was and having no idea where to start.

Edric Crestrun

As she put her foot out, there was another puff of blue mist, and he was now visible again, sitting at his desk looking a bit bored. "So I was right. You're a natural talent, but you need more time before you can grasp the bigger stuff. Good, I guess I'm not out of a job yet." Still, she had picked up a first degree spell almost instantly, just by watching him do it. It was fascinating, how did she know the weave so well? "Well, don't worry, if we need ya invisible, I can just do it myself." Another gesture, and suddenly she wouldn't be visible even to herself.

Quinys Forgedawn

Not being visible to oneself was far more disorienting that one would guess, but she adjusted quickly. She silent crept next to him and stood inches away, waiting, watching. She wondered if he could see her, or maybe feel her? But she didn't know, or have any real way to. All she knew was that she was going to scare the shit out of him when she reappeared.

Edric Crestrun

As she snuck towards him, his eyes closed as another tap occurred at the window. Catbird was looking right at her. "Clever, and deadly as I thought you'd be. Still, you need more than invisibility to sneak up on me." As he stood up, he patted her on the shoulder as he went to open the window and let Catbird in, who landed onto her shoulder and rubbed up against her, before speaking. "It is very clever, you move like a cat moves to move without being heard like a cat. Clever clever."

Quinys Forgedawn

Quin fished a bit of jerky from a pouch on her belt and scritched Catbird's head softly. "You're the one I want to impress most of all." She smiled at his cutie face and made little lovie noises, feeling completely comfortable for the moment. Something about the beast made her feel more at home? Or relaxed? She didn't quite have the words, but knew it was a good thing.

Edric Crestrun

He didn't say another word as he took the piece of jerky and flew off to the bed to chew at it. Edric, however, looked at her with some intent as he sat back down at the table. "So, didn't wanna say anythin' about it in front of company but…I'm sorry I kissed ya. That was untowards, and with what happened that day, completely inappropriate. I'll respect yer boundaries from now on, as you determine 'em."

Quinys Forgedawn

"It's, its fine. It's no big deal. It was just a silly kiss, right?" She sat back on his desk, looking around at everything not him. She couldn't remember what she had and hadn't told him about her romantic life, most of their conversations involving far more alcohol than someone her age should drink on a regular basis.

Edric Crestrun

Looking up at her from where he was sitting, he sighed. "Nah. It wasn't just a silly kiss, Dagger. I'm not gonna deny that I got feelings for ya. That's been plain to me for a little while now, even before we left for this whole screwed up job…just been more obvious lately. The thing is, I don't think you feel the same way, or at least you don't have the ability right now to feel that way about anyone. I forget how young you are, even though you've been around in Neverwinter since before I was born." His hand laid next to her on the table, the closest he felt was appropriate. "Point is, I'm probably gonna still feel that way about you, and if you ever think you're doing the same…the door's always open, so to speak."

Quinys Forgedawn

Quin swallowed and looked at Catbird, unsure of how to process this confession and not trusting herself to look at Edric without laughing or crying or something. "You hardly know me, just the bits I let you know. So you can't have feelings for me." She stood and headed for the door, glancing at Edric for a moment before opening it." Goodnight, sleep well, and I'll see you in the morning."

Edric Crestrun

He shrugged, as Catbird flew out the door, jerky still in his mouth as he went to go terrorize the mice problem in the kitchen. "Goodnight, Dagger. One day you're gonna have to let someone in, or you're gonna be left defenseless against the world."
