Erys Moongem

As dawn finally broke, Erys broke her trance, seated naked on the floor just next to the bed she'd shared with Edric. She'd seen Sune, not just in his eyes, not just the touch of her breath against her neck, but her whole form. In a sense, their union was fully consummated now, and though it was Edric's body she was touching… it was Sune. It was really, truly Sune. And on this morning, Marpenoth the 3rd of her 99th year, she was also really, truly, finally a proper Paladin. She hadn't bothered to dress, enjoying the chance to be naked and in the company of a lover, but he'd be waking soon. She'd dress in front of him. That always felt nice. As the sunlight moved over her body and illuminated the bedroom, she took a breath to just relish in the feeling of immense purpose she felt. She glanced at the belt with her sheathed dagger clipped to it. Where doubts and anger had battled for dominance the prior evening, peace, serenity, and the aftermath of their union made her feel radiant.

Edric Crestrun

The dreams weren't the same this time. It might take a moment to explain, but for Edric, his dreams had been dominated by three things, often in conjunction with one another, for years now. One of them, was what he had come to believe was a portent of his own death, utterly impossible to decipher. Another, Umberlee's crooked smile staring down at him as the sharks swam. The last, what his mind had put together as his father, his back turned to him on the bow of a ship, as great slithering limbs creeped from the ocean and dragged him down. They came together and formed complex dreams, themes combining into ever more terrible forms. Yet this was not what happened, as he woke up, looking up at the ceiling, then around the room as he began to remember the events of the night before. As he saw Erys's nude form, the last of his recollection finished, as he realized he was just as bare to her as she was to him. "…mornin'."

Erys Moongem

She looks back at him over her shoulder, bright-eyed and smiling as if it were any other day, but positively glowing with happiness. Though she began in her usual, Waterdeep accented Common, when she introduced him to her new name for him, she couldn't help but sound a bit like her sister, a bit elvish. The name was half "beautiful" and half his own name. Humans didn't change their names when they got older, at least not usually. "Good morning, Ivaric. How do you feel?"

Edric Crestrun

He rubbed his head, slowly waking up as he sat up in bed, yawning a bit. "Honestly, pretty good. Not different, or at least as different as some tried to make me think, but I think that's the first night I haven't woken up in the middle of terrified in years." Getting up, he headed over to wrap his robe around him, feeling a bit exposed. "I wasn't…poor at it, was I?"

Erys Moongem

She giggled at the question. "No first-timer goes without their little awkward moments," Erys smiled, fondly regarding a few of them, "but it was fantastic, and I'm really very grateful for your assistance. I'm not sure if it was something special about you, something special about my oath, something special about taking a lover on my oathday… but Sune was with us last night. As much as I was making love with you, I was making love with her. That's only happened to me once before, and…" She remembered Mira's voice most of all. "It's been 57 years." Seeing that he was feeling the need to dress, she opted to cede to his comfort and pull her dress and belt over to her, rising to her knees to slide it on, not bothering with the belt but keeping it in her lap as she returned to where she'd been sitting the last few hours.

Edric Crestrun

He didn't quite understand what she meant by all that, and took it as some kind of allegory for the religious nature of the act of love. As he sat back down on the bed, he seemed a little less on guard, his robe laying open a bit in the front. "I'd say it was fantastic, and it was, but I ain't really got a frame of reference." He thought about the turmoil of the previous day, and how it had ended in something so…well, almost the opposite. "I was gonna ask, there was a couple of other things I might need yer help learning, and feel free to turn me down after all this."

Erys Moongem

She turns to face him, finding herself enjoying the image of him, robed and seated upright. She breathes slow, understanding that, like always, the intensity would fade with a few hours' time, but at least for now… he was a sight for her to behold and little else. "You'll have many opportunities in the future, Ivaric. I'm sure of it." At his request, she smirks. "What sorts of things might I aid you in learning?"

Edric Crestrun

That was the second time she did that, he now noticed, having first thought she had just mispoken. It sounded elven to him. "Well, watchin' all of you fight on the front lines while I'm just standin' back and throwing magic kinda makes me feel like you're doin' all the hard work. I figured…if I could learn to at least use a shield and some armor, I might be more useful and less of a liability."

Erys Moongem

She leans back on her hands, getting comfortable, but not taking her eyes off of him. "I can speak to the effectiveness of the shield, and I could show you the basics, at least. That would be no problem at all, fun, even. I'd… ask that we maybe wait a day or two, though? Right away, it'll be a little… too intimate for me to focus on just teaching you, since I'll have to touch you. I might overstep. Armor, on the other hand…" She shakes her head. "I can show you how to put it on, but getting used to the weight of it on your body, that just takes practice. And I would caution you that I've read that certain kinds of armor can negatively impact spellcasting ability. Not that I'm anything of an expert on that."

Edric Crestrun

"Actually, that's a long disproved myth. I used to watch mages in full plate cast without a single flaw…not that I've got the strength to handle that kind of weight." He grinned a bit, seeming to be more at ease. "But uh…yeah it might be a good idea to keep a little…distance, right?" Maybe it was just afterglow, but he felt a need to be closer that he was able to quickly rationalize and control, and yet it still grew. "Also…I wanted to know if ya could teach me a little more about Sune."

Erys Moongem

Erys makes a gesture of understanding. Fuckin' wizards. The thought makes her giggle a little again. "Not that we have to, it's just especially easy to… drown in the intensity of it." At the mention of her Goddess, she rises to her knees and moves closer to him, quickly, excitedly. "I would love to tell you of my Lady, of course, anything you wish to know. So long as you'll swear to me, Ivaric, that you have no intent to use that knowledge to harm me or my Truelove." Though she moves closer, she's careful not to make direct physical contact. They had things to do today.

Edric Crestrun

Standing back up, he walked over to the room's window, staring out a more peaceful Phandalin. He had fought so hard against this outcome, tried to argue that these bandits were a distraction, but…the fear was gone. People walked the streets on this early morning without carrying a palpable dread. The sun shined down upon the town. "Ever since…Umberlee, I've had nightmares every night. Horrible ones that dig into my psyche for my deepest fears and exploit 'em. I usually wake up screamin' in the middle of the night. That was the first night since that it ain't happened, and while I'm not exactly religious, I know that last night was different, so…I wanna know more."

Erys Moongem

Erys continues to watch him, eventually deciding to rise up to take a seat on the bed they'd shared. "You fell asleep in my arms soon after, and there was no sign of any nightmare. No sign of anything but the serenity I've come to anticipate. I watched you a while, and then meditated. I'd just finished when you finally woke up. Your sleep was uninterrupted, peaceful even." She considers a moment, laughing in her usual style. "It strikes me as immensely queer that Sune would inhabit, even briefly, the body of a man who would describe himself as 'not exactly religious'." She considers. "I'd like to hear more about these nightmares, perhaps on the morrow, depending on where we find ourselves? Especilly if they return. Surely, we finally set out to rescue Roxie today."

Edric Crestrun

"Yeah, I just hope the guy is okay. I owe him, and he is definitely going to owe me an answer after all this is over." He started to get redressed, as he used prestidigitation to do his hair and remake his usual degree of impeccable style. "By the way, what's that you've been callin' me? Ivaric? I ain't really familiar with Elven, but I know what it sounds like usually."

Erys Moongem

Erys smiled, hardly anybody ever asked. "I give…do… personal names, I guess. Sometimes they spread. Sometimes they're just between me and the person I seek to honor. My… sister, Ona. Of course. When Roxie made me laugh harder than I've ever laughed when he barged in on me and that cleric. When Dagger saved Ona, at the cavemouth, and I realized what a fool I'd been to believe she was…" Erys can hardly believe that was only a week ago that the word knife-ear came out of her mouth towards the darling girl. "Not what she has proven herself time and again to be. And now, you, oathfellow. Ivae is the elvish word for beauty, which is what you were and helped me become last night. And the rest is a little fragment of your name, so it would… roughly translate to calling you 'Beautiful Edric,' I suppose. It is phenomenally rare for me to, um… want to use Elvish in these names. But it seemed… inevitable, almost. Ivaric."

Edric Crestrun

Blushing a bit, he smiled. He'd never had a nickname, at least one that was positive. Whoreson, bastard, wharfrat, guttertrash, those were his nicknames growing up, and yet she was calling him beautiful. Despite all his posturing, he really wasn't much more than that same boy back then, but maybe now, in a small way, he was starting to leave that behind. "I like it. I think I'll do the same in return, Alvrod." Red Elf, to speak of both her, and her beloved Patron in one word of conjoined Giant. "You wanna go get some breakfast?"

Erys Moongem

She giggles at the name. "Goodness, it sounds so masculine. As you wish, of course. 'Alrvrod the Heartwarder'… eh, it does have that certain knightly feel to it, I suppose." She stood, smoothing out her dress, making some attempt to fix her hair which really just amounted to running her fingers through it and shaking furiously before patting it all down. "…Sure, just… one more moment, please." She looked him over, her first lover in nearly a week, and she let her heart swell with fondness. Closing her eyes, she quelled the flame, only enough that it would not be blatantly obvious to anyone and everyone. "Alright," she said, opening her eyes, "…let's."
