Erys Moongem

As Erys approaches the fire with Edric, the two part company. She'd already dressed down for the evening, clad in her undershirt and with most of her kit back over by her sister, who seemed to finally be meditating. All she had with her was her sidearm weapon, and Erys' jovial facial expression took a rather serious tone when she approached the elf. Her comfort level wavering, her dedication to seeing this through tonight, now, while it was fresh and beautiful… it had to be now, so that all of the sincerity would shine on her face. "May I speak with you a moment?"

Quinys Forgedawn

Quinys gave her and Edric a suspect look and finished braiding her hair before standing. "Sure…but whatever you're missing, I didn't take it." She brushed her pants off and looked around, before starting toward the wood line. "Guess we could keep watch as a pair."

Erys Moongem

Internally, Erys rolls her eyes at herself. She'd done her own shift, she'd been suckered into walking around with Edric for the last bit, and now… three watches. In a night. Alright. Whatever. This was more important, anyway. "No, it's… it's nothing like that." As they move into the patrol route, Erys seems to struggle getting the words out at first, but eventually, she dives in. "I was very rude to you. I dismissed you. I didn't take your opinion into account when we were first dealing with the goblins that attacked us. I'd like to apologize."

Quinys Forgedawn

Quinys look a bit surprised, but nodded and put her hands in her pockets. "I get it, I'm not the type that people like you are used to working with." She continued along the trail and looked Erys over from the corner of her eye. "Besides, I'm easy to overlook when everyone's so much bigger."

Erys Moongem

Erys nods. "Our people, such as they are. They sit in their towers and they read their books. They drink their wine. They let time slip through their fingers, never wanting anything, never achieving anything. Letting the world just wash right over them. It's despicable. So, listen…" She holds her sidearm in her hand, sheathed, but makes a point of gesturing towards it. "My Avara gave this weapon to me the first time a noble's son thought I ought to be his wife, instead of my own woman, and put his lips on mine without my permission. The next time he tried it, I cut him so bad that he nearly died, but he and the other boys learned their fucking lesson. It's a small weapon, right? Not like the ones my sister or the dwarf or I use… big, hard-hitting… not like the magics that the tiefling and human are capable of… clever, tricky… heh, explosive… this weapon requires a mind to use. You can't just swing it, you have to think about what you're doing with it. You have to be right there, in the thick of it, taking no quarter from anyone. Like you do, Dagger. You saved my sister's life at the cavemouth, and I am eternally grateful."

"Family is a gift, and I'd never stop short of doing what I can to keep it together. As long as we travel together, and fight side by side, I will do my best to be sure the both of you make it through our fights." Quinys felt a ping of sadness before shoving in back down to the 'do not think about' zone and looking up at the stars. "I hope that we can trust each other, at least until we part ways."

Erys Moongem

Erys moves her hand holding the weapon to her side. "My family doesn't really feel the same way, with the exception of my darling sister." As Quinys looks up, Erys looks down, remembering Quinys being bitten by the direwolf, then recovering – admittedly, with some help, but – only to go on to repel the ambush and support the sisters against the bugbear. "I appreciate your dedication, but I'm the one with the shield. Try not to run into an ambush, next time. We almost lost you. You're incredible with that blade, but it does you no good on the ground."

Quinys Forgedawn

"I'm not used to backup, but I'll try and remember that." It was true, even when Adonis was around Quinys was usually on her own, and so much time by herself had taught her to be more aggressive than she probably should have. "I guess we have to learn each other if we hope to figure out what happened to Gundren."

Erys Moongem

"Worry not, on that account." Erys beams, smiling wide. "Roxie's clever as hells, even for a dwarf. Whatever he's gotten himself into, we'll get him out of, and he'll be laughing. I'm sure of it." Erys' gaze finally turns towards the tiefling. "I'd better go properly introduce myself to the naturelover, if we're gonna be traveling companions. Thanks for hearing me out, Dagger. Trust is a big deal in this line of work, I expect to have to earn yours, but you've earned mine. Goodnight."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Night." * Quinys continued on her watch, thinking about the things they had talked about before heading back and sitting by the fire with Edric.
