Edric Crestrun

It was another night at the tavern. The hours went by, the bards played their songs, and the ale flowed freely. A fire roared in the hearth and a mountain dwarf by the name of Gundren was in high spirits, both figuratively and literally. He was joined by several friends in celebrating the discovery of a new lead on his family's fortune, and had almost forgotten his earlier loss in the market of a valuable bit of moonstone he'd lost in a bad deal. That was, until he sobered up for just a moment, and sent out a call for his 'fixer'. Across from him, tending his own ale, was a man with raven hair and a swarthy grin. He was young, but had a weathered look to him that clashed with the robes he wore over his finery. The two laughed off a joke the latter told as he tossed a coin to the bards.

After a moment or two a small red head walked up to the table, taking Gundren's drink and sitting down before taking a long swallow. She smiled at the dwarf, looking around the room and taking account of each person for a moment. "Evening."

Edric Crestrun

The man across the table gave her a look, as he had a few times before. He held his tongue, as Gundren relayed the story to her about the bad deal in the markets. "Aye, I'd appreciate it if you could convince it out of 'em. No need to commit any further felonies today miss." He grinned, as he handed over the usual fee. The robed figure finished off his drink. "I gotta take a piss, you gonna be alright gettin' drunk all on yer own?" Gundren laughed, and nodded. "Aye my boy, I've been managing just fine all these years!" With a grin, he headed out the door, presumably to piss on some cobblestone.

Quinys Forgedawn

The elf gave the man a small smirk as he looked her over, before nodding slightly at Gundren and tiring the bag into her belt. She took another drink from the flagon and set it on the table daintily. "Why so pouty?"

Edric Crestrun

"I can never tell with that kid, lass. Rolled in six months ago and bought me a drink, rest is history. Besides that, I don't have much of a read on 'em." He took another drink, as he ordered another to be brought over. "Still, he's been helpin' me out with market predictions with his magic, plus he's a hoot to go out on a bender with."

Quinys Forgedawn

She leaned back in her chair as the man left, relaxing ever so slightly. "Whatever makes you happy." She finished the drink and licked her lips, crossing her arms over her chest and flashing a half smile. "Tell me more about who you lost this stone to, are they a usual here?" She waved for a drink herself, pulling out a coin and tossing it on the table.

Edric Crestrun

Gundren went over the details, explaining that he had gotten his hands on some Moonstone that was of a higher quality than he had known at the time, and a jeweler he hadn't dealt with before managed to convince him it was poorly graded and got it off of him for a song. "He's leaving town in the morning, so I'd appreciate if you could put a rush on this one. I'll pay you half what the stone's worth, which is a pretty bit of gold."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Let me have another drink and I'll head out, actually you can have this one and I'll be back before you finish." With that she vanished, weaving through the crowd and quietly slipping out the door. In the night air she paused, looking around and starting down the road toward the jeweler's hut.

Edric Crestrun

As she left, she heard a voice emerge from the dark of the night, as the same human from before stepped out of the shadows, this time with a tressym perched upon his shoulder, grooming itself idly. "Evenin'. "

Quinys Forgedawn

She sighed and rolled her eyes before turning to face the human. "Evening, can I help you with anything?" If she was going to do this without having to steal she'd have to move quickly, otherwise she ran the risk of a breaking and entering charge on top of dealing with this blowhard. "I'm on my way to work."

Edric Crestrun

"Just thought we might have a chat regardin' our mutual aquaintance."The tressym on his shoulder took off with a beat of his wings, and swooped around her, sniffing her out. "I know yer line of work. I know what ya do when the talkin' and flirtin' fails. I figured I'd look out fer my friend and make sure he ain't the next one to get scammed."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Gundren is a big boy, he doesn't need you to 'protect' him." She watched the catbird as it flew around her, at peace with it as long as it didn't get aggressive. She looked at the moon again, judging the time and twisting her hair into a bun. "Besides, he's my friend too. And I know all about you and your reactions to the slightest bit of pressure, you're not exactly a picture of purity."

Edric Crestrun

Doing his best to hide his annoyance, he whistled, calling his familiar back to his shoulder. "Gundren's a trustin' guy. A good guy if I ever met one. Yer the kind to take advantage of that. If you're goin' to meet with this jeweler, I'm comin' with you to keep things on the up and up." He already knew that she'd succeed. What he didn't know is what it would cost his dwarven friend. When he couldn't divine the future, he took a more hands on approach to make sure it was a good future.

Quinys Forgedawn

She raised her eyebrows and crossed her arms, shaking her head. "Why, so you can muck everything up and I leave making no money and not eating for the night? You can go get blackout drunk and I'll be back within the hour." She turned and continued on her route, miffed at the gaul of this joker.

Edric Crestrun

As she turned and left, she would meet the same man facing her from the direction she was heading, as his illusion vanished into nothing behind her. "I know the man you're running this game on. He cares about one thing, and that's profits. Yer gonna need more than sweet words and a pretty face."

Quinys Forgedawn

Fucking. Wizards. She rubbed her forehead and sighed again before tossing her hands up in a sign of defeat."But I swear to whatever deity you hold precious, if you muck this up Gundren will be told what happened to you're corpse and why it became one."

Edric Crestrun

"I've heard a lot worse, girl." He began to head down the street, down to the merchant district towards the jeweler's shop, a two story building with an apartment over the shop itself. "So, what're you gonna do?"

Quinys Forgedawn

"Haven't decided." She pulled the door open and stepped inside, looking around with a sweet smile and appearing interested in many different things before heading to the counter.

Edric Crestrun

Behind the counter, the Jeweler was counting his till for the day, a smile on his half-elf face as he looked over his profits. Something had him in a good mood. On the counter in a display case, was the Moonstone, a glimmering stone which catches your eye immediately. The man who followed her is waiting outside, watching from a safe distance as he allows her to demonstrate her skills. "Oh, hello miss! We're just about to close up for the night, but I'm happy to do business with you!"

Quinys Forgedawn

"I'm looking for something special, something that can be used for both beauty and function." She looked at the moonstone and smiled a bit, shifting herself in a slightly provocative manor and leaning a bit over the counter.

Edric Crestrun

"Ah, well…" The man blushed, clearly affected by her provocations as he stumbled for words. "I have a…a few very beautiful tourmalines, and some faceted jade from the far east. May I ask what kind of…purpose a young lady like you might have with such jewels?"

Quinys Forgedawn

"You know how men are, they like a lady in fine things once other things start to come off." She lightly traced a finger along the display case, looking it over. "What about this?"

Edric Crestrun

His fluster increased exponentially, as he sidestepped over to the case. "O-oh, well, this is a very new piece. It's s-still unrefined, but it does give off the most wonderful shine at night, d-doesn't it? I'm afraid…u-uhm, it might be a bit out of your price range miss. Could I interest you in a beautiful emerald, to match your eyes?"

Quinys Forgedawn

"Emeralds are so…pedestrian, don't you think?" She pulled a lock of hair free and twirled it around her finger, looking up through her lashes and biting her lip softly. "What if we talk…arrangements? How can we come to an agreement about this?"

Edric Crestrun

It was obvious he was getting uncomfortable, with this very young elf seemingly propositioning him "I uhm…I s-suppose we could…what did you have in mind?" Outside, a meow issued out of the tressym, as the wizard looked across into the darkness and slipped out of view. Something was spooking the winged familiar, and he wasn't the kind to face danger head on.

Quinys Forgedawn

"Why don't you go ahead and I'll come join you in a moment, first I need to check on my…companion." She glanced toward the door confused, a hand on the case and her other in a pocket. "Just leave the door unlocked for me? And I'll meet you in the back in a minute? You just…get ready for me."

Edric Crestrun

Without another word, his greed overcome by his baser needs, he headed up the stairs to his flat, leaving the gem unguarded. It was so close, and so easy to take. Unfortunately, she could hear footsteps behind her. Three rather rough looking half-orcs stepped in, each armed with a grin on their faces, and a weapon in their hands. "Well well well, lookat what we got here."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Hello boys." She sat on the counter, legs kicking as she looked between the three. "What can I help you with today? Maybe a nice sapphire for the special woman in your life?" She twisted and hopped down on the other side, smiling at the trio.

Edric Crestrun

"You can give us the moonstone, girl. Otherwise, we're gonna take what we want, and we're gonna take you too…though from that show ya just put on, you might just like that, huh?" Their grins were devilish, as they advanced upon her, with one of them smashing an axe into the counter, inches in front of her.

Quinys Forgedawn

"Moonstone huh? Let me go get the key and I'll have it for you in a moment." She opened a lower drawer and took a breath to think this through, she didn't like her odds, but she needed this stone and these guys were going to prevent that. "They should be right…here" She sprung up and jumped onto the counter, kicking the nearest goon in the face and continuing her kick to shatter the display case and send precious stones all over the place.*

Edric Crestrun

The surprise kick sent the goon to the ground, but his buddies quickly flanked to block the door between them. As the man behind her began to get up, something flew in through the open door, something angry and furry, which began to tear and scratch at the man's face with surprising ferocity, it's wings flapping in a fury. As his friend moved to try and pry it from his face, a pair of glowing bolts caught him in the back, sending him to the floor smoking as her new friend's sillouette was framed by the moonlight behind him. "Grab the fuckin' thing and let's bounce!"

Quinys Forgedawn

She was nothing if not quick as she snatched the stone and jumped over the chaos and out the door, sprinting away and around a building a few places down, pressing against the wall and breathing hard. She clutched her sides and tried not to laugh until she puked.

Edric Crestrun

Taking off alongside her, he laughed into the night as they made off with their ill gotten loot, as the tressym flew alongside them, the goons more than a few steps behind them. As they rounded the building, he let off another spell, creating an illusion for them to follow in their stead as he stood next to her. Soon enough, they were chasing their own tails and they were scot free. "So…let's go tell Gundren the good news?"

Quinys Forgedawn

"Agreed…and I think I owe you a drink for that."

Edric Crestrun

"I'd hope you'd owe me more than one. You got any idea what this thing is worth?"(edited)

Quinys Forgedawn

She shrugged and placed the stone in her bag, giving this…man a small smile. "Not my business as long as I get paid." She offered a hand and looked him over once again.* "Quinys."

Edric Crestrun

He returned the gesture, and the smile, as he shook her hand. "Edric. Nice to meet ya, let's go get fuckin' drunk."

Quinys Forgedawn

"Sounds great." She headed for the bar, in a good mood for the first time in a while.
